GATHERING ACTIVITY:  Gathering Snowballs

Materials:
  •         Cotton balls
  •         Wooden Spoons

How to Play:
Scatter cotton balls on the floor.  Give the players a wooden spoon.  On signal, they try to pick up the balls with the spoons and put them in a large bowl on the table.   No hands allowed.

GAMES:  SANTA’S HELPERS

Materials:

        Gift wrap
        Tape
        Wrapping paper
        Boxes to wrap
        Party Favors

How to Play:
In this game, teams of two player’s race against one another to gift wrap a package.  The catch?  Each player must hold one hand behind his back, an impediment that makes it necessary for partners to communicate and work together. To set up, put out two party favors, one box, and a sheet of wrapping paper, tape, and yarn for each pair.  Each team must race to wrap the favors in the box and tie a bow.  The first team to finish (a judge's call) wins the gift.

VARIATION FOR SMALL GROUPS:  Have two Cubs working together to do the above, but rather than racing another team, time them and see if they can do it faster the second time.

 GAMES: Candy Game

Materials:
  •         Name tags
  •         Wrapped Candy

How to Play:
Put pieces of candy all around room keeping them in obvious places.  Each boy is given a name tags-- "Yum, yum" "Ding, ding" "Ho, ho” or "Boom, boom"  Make sure that one name tag for each group has an "L" on the back, as this will denote the leader of that group.  On signal, the boys scatter through the room in search of the candy which they are not allowed to touch!  Only the leader can pick up the candy so that each boy must make his sound until the leader of his group comes over to pick up the candy.  The team ending up with the most pieces of candy is the winner, and splits the loot.

THEME ACTIVITY: Christmas Around the World

Materials Needed:

q  Assignments for this activity are made the week before

Each Cub comes prepared to present and discuss his findings about how another culture celebrates Christmas. Cubs are encouraged to bring pictures, books, and items to display etc. as well as their completed worksheet. As an added bonus, Cubs may choose to bring a cultural treat to share with the pack.

THEME ACTIVITY: Making Christmas Greeting Cards

Materials Needed:

q  Cardstock
q  Christmas themed pattern paper
q  Old Christmas cards or Christmas stamps and ink
q  Glue
q  Scissors
q  Paper cutter if desired
